When looking at the McDonaldization that has been happening across the planet, Domino's Pizza has discovered the possible "one up" on McDonalds: delivery.
In an article Who Made Domino's Great Again? the recent success of Domino's (their stock is up 46% since the start of the year) can be attributed in part to the continence and predictability of their product. Domino's, like many other fast food businesses, has adopted McDonald's approach to fast food. Everything is tightly regulated, employees have very little control over the food they serve. Furthermore they also have expanded into the technological area of food service, now you can simply text them an emoji of pizza and it will be at your door in a few minutes.
Domino's combination of targeting younger generations using technology and making fast food even more of a convenience than it already has, led to them having a terrific year in sales. They have even avoided the so called "restaurant recession" that has been chattered about all over the summer. But this has even added to Domino's allure. As restaurants go down in sales, food services that offer delivery have done better, due to people's wish for fast food, but without the hassle of going out to get it.
There has been talk of other fast food products also opening up for delivery options. Most notably Starbucks now is trying to implement delivery in certain locations. Could this trend mark the new turn for fast food locations everywhere?
